No fears over apartments set to be built

-

THE developers of Birmingham’s newest high-rise tower blocks have said their buildings will be safe from ever experiencing a tragedy like that of Grenfell Tower.

Moda Living, the developers behind a new Broad Street apartment block said the housing will “exceed” the level of fire safety required.

The 31-storey building – set to be one of the tallest residential towers in Birmingham – will be equipped with sprinklers and “fire resistant” cladding, according to Moda.

A spokesperson said the cladding was different to the combustible cladding used on Grenfell Tower.

He said: “All of our developments will also be professionally managed, with a 24/7 on-site presence by staff. Our plans for Broad Street remain unchanged.”

Regal Property Group, developers of the nearby ‘Left Bank’ scheme which will include two residential towers and 400 homes, said its properties would “meet the high standards required.”

Mark Holbeche, a spokesperson for Regal, said: “We take the safety of our future residents incredibly seriously. Our latest development, The Bank, has been designed and built in accordance with the most up-to-date fire safety requirements and recommendations.”

He added that fire safety had been reviewed by both engineers as well as the Fire Service.

“All have agreed that the fire safety approach at The Bank meets the high standards required, giving peace of mind about the building’s safety to future occupants,” he said.
