Q I have very crepey lids – the skin around my eyes is really thin, and my usual make-up I’ve worn for years doesn’t look great.

A DR AAMER SAYS: As we lose collagen, the eyelids and skin around our eyes becomes thinner and more fragile. Up to now, addressing drooping or sagging skin here has meant a scalpel. But a couple of new treatments have been introduced, meaning no cutting or stitches. Plexr uses plasma energy to stimulate the tightening of skin fibres. It works by delivering micro lightening to the skin, creating a series of minute dots and this causes shrinking of the skin. The treatment is suitable for all skin types, takes 15-60 minutes depending on the area, and the results are instant. Topical anaesthetic is used to numb the skin and there may be some puffiness and redness in the area for a couple of days. From £2,000 for three treatments on both eyes.

LESLEY SAYS: There are plenty of creams to treat crinkly skin around the eyes, but I like L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Re-Hydrating Anti- Sagging Eye Cream, £11.99 as it is specially adapted for the delicate contours. You can also use it lightly on your lids last thing at night, after cleansing, to prevent puffiness. The right makeup will also restore a smooth, youthful look to your eyes. Apply Bourjois Eye Primer 24H, £6.99, before shadow to help smooth and mattify your eyelids. Let is set for a minute before applying anything else. Avoid shiny or glitter colours, which can emphasise lines and stick to matte formulas. A lash lengthening mascara like Rimmel London Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara £7.99, can also work miracles when it comes to disguising crepey lids, making eyes look younger and brighter.
