There are odd couples, and then… there’s Pamela Anderson and Julian Assange
If these two are dating, this could well be the most bizarre hook-up ever. Mother-of-two Pamela Anderson, 49, is a former Baywatch star, known for her rocky romances (she divorced third husband Rick Salomon in 2015); Julian Assange, 45, a controversial Australian journalist who is living in political exile. He has been in London’s Ecuadorian Embassy for the past four years after his company, WikiLeaks, published secret files on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. If he leaves, he may be extradited to the US.
Former Playboy pin-up Pamela has sparked gossip of a potential romance after being spotted dropping into the Embassy six times since last October. If love isn’t blossoming, it seems Pammy and Julian (inset) have struck up a firm friendship…
Pamela always looks smoking for her visits, too. Last week, the glamorous Canadian – who is also the new face of lingerie brand Coco de Mer – rocked up in a grey dress, fishnets and towering black heels (and oversized sunglasses, but we still recognised you, Pammy!).
We’d love to be a fly on the wall. What do this unlikely pair talk about – political exile with a bit of showbiz gossip thrown in? Or maybe Julian is too busy enjoying the goodies Pamela supplies. On her last visit, she brought vegan burgers from a restaurant.
Julian was introduced to Pammy by designer Vivienne Westwood in August 2014. Animal rights activist Pam, who founded The Pamela Anderson Foundation months before, turned to him for advice on her charity.
Neither Pam nor Julian have confirmed or denied they’re an item, but Pam has previously spoken of him in glowing terms, saying, ‘I really believe in him and think he’s a good person, and I’m concerned about his health, his family [ he has a 27-year-old son, Daniel], and I just hope that, by some miracle, he’s set free.’
