Inside Madonna’s new LA life
The queen of pop has relocated her family (and fella) to California
In recent years, Madonna has spent time living in Lisbon, London and New York. But now, the 62 year old has decided on a fresh start with her family and settled in the Beverly Hills enclave of Hidden Hills, in an $18m pad that previously belonged to musician The Weeknd.
The seven-bed house, which she bought in April, sprawls over 13,000 square feet and features an additional two-bed guest house, a wine room, car gallery, gym, theatre and basketball court, where her kids love to play and shoot hoops.
She lives there with her children David and Mercy James, both 15, and twins Estere and Stella, eight, while her actor son Rocco, 20, resides in London with his dad Guy Ritchie. Her daughter
Lourdes, 24, is thought to spend most of her time in New York, where she works as a model and budding actress.
Los Angeles will be the ideal place for her youngest kids’ ambitions to flourish, as Madonna constantly shares videos of their talents in basketball, singing and rapping, piano playing and acting in funny skits.
Madge’s boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams, who at 26 is 36 years her junior, is also thought to live with her in the Hollywood mansion. The professional dancer and choreographer hails from California and reportedly first met Madonna while working on her Rebel Heart tour in 2015, when she “personally picked” him out. He joined her once again on her latest tour for Madame X in 2019, with her confirming their relationship in December.
‘I thought it would be adventurous’
He’s since been on many lavish holidays with Madonna and her children, and his dad Drue commented, “Love has no age. My son is livin’ la vida loca, and I’m just happy for him.”
Not only is Madonna’s new pad a great place for her kids to indulge in all their hobbies, playing with make-up and practising boxing, but it’s also a great opportunity for her to meet new people and catch up with old LA pals. After living in Portugal for two years to support David, who was training with football club Benfica’s youth team, she said, “I moved to Lisbon to be a soccer mom. I thought it would be adventurous. But I found myself alone, without friends, a little bit bored.”
Now, though, there’s plenty of showbiz mates to be made as she has tons of A-list neighbours in Hidden Hills. The likes of Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes,
Britney Spears and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith have all been spotted in the gated community.
Away from her family life, Madonna’s career remains as busy as ever. She’s about to release a film of her most recent Madame X world tour, and she is currently working on a biopic of her life for Universal Pictures, which she’s planning to direct herself.
