1Oldfield Park Junior School have had an amazing two weeks by winning a number of B&NES tournament­s as well as representi­ng the area in the National Lacrosse Finals held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

The first success was winning the B&NES Kwik Cricket for the first time in their history with a great performanc­e against eight other local teams. It was a close affair in the final against Newbridge and the team is now looking forward to the Somerset Cup.

The second success was completing the double by winning the BPSFA Girls Football Cup with a 4-2 win over WASPS.

It was a great all-round team performanc­e with Ruby playing excellentl­y in goal, and Maddie and Alexa impressing at the back. Flo ran midfield, Charlotte bagged a hat-trick, Emily a goal, Ava and Maddy were wing wizards, and Tia and Kyla proved super subs, coming on and seeing the game out.

It rounded off a great season with the team winning the BPSFA Tournament and finishing third in the Somerset Cup.

The third and final success was finishing third in the National Lacrosse Final Bowl in Sheffield. It was a great day and OPJS held their own against other schools from around the country.

PE leads Heather Miller and Joe Newman said: “Well done to all the children who represente­d our school with such great passion, skills and pride. A great way to end the season!”

2It was a super sunny Sunday for the Bath Pentathlon juniors who competed in the National triathle and World champs qualifier at Leweston School.

The triathle is a continuous shoot, swim, run, with transition phases testing the youngsters’ speed and accuracy of shot.

Five members of the club qualified for the World Championsh­ips, which will be held in Egypt later this year.

It was bronze for Freddie Howchin, Thomas Johnson, Ellie Gussey and sister Georgia Gussey all in their respective age groups.

Orli Cranston qualified in fourth place in her first ever triathle. Her first shoot was not so good but she moved on through the field with consistent running. Luke Hornby also took part bit did not manage to qualify this time.

3Prior Park College’s under-18 Girls beat Dean Close 4-2 to progress to this month’s LTA National Finals in Nottingham.

The team has been competing in the knockout stage of the cup since March.

The girls beat Cheltenham Ladies College, Colstons, Cokethorpe and finally Dean Close to qualify for the four-day national final, which involve the top 16 schools in the country.

4Bath Archers are celebratin­g two regional champions following the South West Regional Championsh­ips, held at Dunster over the weekend.

Bethany Ede moved up from her normal category of Junior Girls under-16 Compound, to shoot and win the Senior Ladies event, while Mark Smith won the Senior Mens Recurve.

5The final event of the 2017/18 Avon Schools Orienteeri­ng season was the popular Inter-school Orienteeri­ng Relay Competitio­n, run in two classes.

Bath schools achieved some leading results with Kingswood Prep One winning in 30mins 13secs (Charlie Whishaw 6:10, James Ardus 17:41, Ollie Boutin 6:22), their second squad coming next in 32:27 (Ella Burton 10:34, Daisy Bassett 10:58, Isabel Gilmore 10:55) and Weston All Saints WASPO third in 32:45 (Sophie Doig 9:47, Megan Tarling 14:37 and Lucy Gleave 8:21).

Top of the intermedia­te class were Kingswood School in 97:11 (Seb Crowe 33:24, Jacob Barton 15:10, Wilfrid Whishaw 48:37) and fourth were Hayesfield Girls School after 117:01 (Bryony Stagg 48:14, Lois Tiley 27:15, Edith Stagg 41:32).
