Find out all about Friars at anniversary exhibition

-

THE ‘History of Friars’ school exhibition to celebrate the 460th anniversary of the founding of the school was opened on March 11, by the President of the Old Dominicans.

The exhibition has been prepared by The Old Dominicans’ Association, together with the staff of Storiel, to celebrate the 460th anniversary of the founding of Friars school in 1557. The exhibition will run until April 29.

The story of Friars is a tale of one man’s clear thinking in providing something lasting for the community in which he lived.

The school has produced a director general of the BBC, a chief executive of Gwynedd county council, engineers who worked on the channel tunnel, Heathrow airport, and designed the Mulberry harbours which were a success in the 1944 Normandy Landings.

The exhibition will detail the full history of the school, one of the longest established in Wales.

The Old Dominicans’ Association is a vehicle for ex-members of Friars school, of whatever age, to join together in friendship and fellowship, to preserve the memory of Friars School, to meet socially and share the memories of their time at Friars.
