Knife robber hunt

Police are continuing enquiries after a robber, armed with a knife, stole cash from a New Cumnock shop.

The Day2Day Convenience Store in Highpark Avenue was robbed at around 9.30pm on Thursday, November 17.

A 47- year- old woman was working in the shop when a man entered, threatened her with a knife and ran off with a three- figure sum of money.

The woman was left in a state of shock but physically unharmed following the incident.

The man is described as being of medium to large build. He was wearing a balaclava and gloves, with dark coloured trousers and black boots. Police say he was also wearing a ‘ distinctive’ 3/ 4 length green or olive khaki coat, described as being a wax jacket.

Detective Constable David Lawson said: “Although unharmed, this incident really shocked the woman who was working in the shop. As a community and as detectives, we will not tolerate people feeling afraid in the places where they live and work.

“We are still to determine the direction the suspect took when he left the shop but a dedicated team are working on tracing this man and holding him to account for his actions.

“I would ask anyone who saw a man behaving suspiciously around the shop at the time of the incident, or may have seen a man matching that description by the clothes he was wearing, to please contact officers at Kilmarnock police office.”
