Liquidators are called in by Dawn Construction
An Ayrshire- based company behind some of Scotland’s biggest building projects has called in the liquidators.
The company entered into members’ voluntary liquidation – or solvent liquidation – on November 2.
It was responsible for a number of new schools around Ayrshire as well as the construction of the state- of- theart maternity unit at Crosshouse Hospital.
But bosses of the construction firm, part of the larger Dawn group, revealed they would begin to wind down its operations in 2012 due to a “severe slowdown in the contractor market”.
Speaking at the time, chairman and founder Alan Macdonald said: “It’s regrettable that we’ve come to this conclusion, but we see the main contractor market coming under increasing pressure for the next five years and it is the responsible course of action to implement this strategy now, given the current strength and robustness of the business.
“We have a very proud and jealously guarded reputation which we’ve built up over the past 40 years, and it’s important to me personally and for the business as a whole that we manage this professionally and look after our staff, customers and contractors properly.”
The terms of the liquidation mean anyone owed money by Dawn Construction have or will be paid in full.
Outstanding creditors have to prove their debts before February 2, 2017.
