Tarbert artists Venice-bound
Duo to join team of 17 at prestigious event
Two young Tarbert artists will take part in a show in the Italian city of Venice.
Former exhibition assistants Grace Carroll and Isaac Stanesby have been selected by Templar Arts and Leisure Centre (talc.) in Tarbert for the Professional Development Programme as part of the Scotland + Venice 2019 exhibition during this year’s Biennale of Art.
They will join a team of 17 participants from across Scotland.
The programme offers an opportunity to support Scotland’s presentation of new video work by Charlotte Prodger during the exhibition which runs from May to November 2019.
Grace said: ‘I am delighted to be a part of such a prestigious event and greatly value the opportunity to explore contemporary art and culture in a different country.
‘I am in no doubt this experience will bring clarity to me about my own relationship to art and design and my personal place in the creative industries.’
Isaac added: ‘This is a really exciting opportunity to develop my skills in communicating with people about art while becoming acquainted with the work of some of the world’s leading contemporary artists in the monumental setting of the Venice Biennale.’
The Scotland + Venice Professional Development Programme is spearheaded by artists’ residency centre Cove Park.
In addition to partnering with six Scottish art schools and colleges, the programme will benefit from new col- laborations with talc. Nicole Heidtke, talc. programme leader, commented: ‘We are delighted to hear that Grace and Isaac will be given this professional development opportunity during the Venice Biennale for Scotland + Venice. They worked hard last year as talc. trainees and we are certain that they will do a fantastic job of introducing Charlotte Prodger’s work to visitors and of representing Scotland. It is an honour to work with Cove Park and Scotland + Venice to support these two young people.’
