No language has been spoken by so many people. It has been calculated that 400 million people speak English; it is a second language for a billion more and 60 or so countries use it as their official language with many others using it unofficially. The internet, trade, diplomacy, science and aviation use it globally. That is no reason to be lazy. There are so many benefits if you have other languages at your command. Studying another language helps in so many ways: • Boosts you brain power • Improves your listening skills and memory • Increases your vocabulary in your native language • Expands your analytical skills • Is proven to raise grades in
maths and English • Expands your world view • Teaches you more about a country’s culture • Makes international travel
easier • Employers are crying out for
bi-lingual staff • Improves prospects with
overseas employers
