THE final of this year’s £50,000 Fish O’Mania competition will return to Yorkshire’s Maver Hayfield Lakes, Angling Times can reveal this week.

After 11 years at Cudmore Fisheries, the showpiece event will celebrate its 25th anniversary at Hayfield on Saturday, July 14, when 24 qualifiers will bid for one of match fishing’s biggest prizes.

“We are thrilled that Fish O’Mania will return to Hayfield in 2018,” said Barry Hearn, chairman of Fish O’ owner Matchroom Multi Sport.

“The event is 25 years old this year, and along with the team at Hayfield Lakes and our colleagues at Sky Sports, we’re determined to make this year’s Fish O’Mania the best yet.” “We’ve really missed this prestigious event and will work tirelessly to make it an unmissable part of the angling calendar,” added Robin Goforth, chief executive of Hayfield Lakes.

This year’s qualifier dates have also been released, with half of them taking place on Wednesdays, unlike before when weekend matches were the norm.

An online booking system will run for anglers to get tickets, with phase one from 10.30am on January 29 until February 8.

Applicants will be guaranteed two tickets, provided they are members of the Angling Trust.

After this, remaining tickets will go on sale from 10.30am on February 13.
