Savouring sore losers at Chelsea

KATERINA LEE’S CLARETS VIEW

AND the points just keep on coming!

In the most unlikely of fashions and fuelling the most hatred from a bewildered Chelsea, we gained a very well deserved point at Stamford Bridge.

Not without being accused of playing ‘anti-football’ by a certain well known cheat and an abhorrent display of very sore losers on Chelsea’s part - it wasn’t a loss, but a 2-2 draw with a ‘little’ team that may have damaged their place in the champions league for next year.

At the end of the day, we scored two brilliant goals and defended so valiantly it’s actually amazing that they can’t even give us the shred of credit that we actually deserve.

It just makes it all the sweeter for us in all honesty, not to mention the fact that our safety is well and truly secured.

All the praise needs to go to Ben Mee, who played probably the best football we’ve seen this whole season from the first minute until the last. I honestly couldn’t be prouder of the lads in general.

Even a certain Jeff Hendrick that I often criticise played out his skin and scored a Pele-esque superb goal on the volley (who’d have predicted that).

Plenty of credit due to the travelling fans as well, who never stopped singing the entire game. And why not, it was a glorious day!

With our safety in the premier league now all but secured, we face a very in form and very tough to beat City who are battling at the top with real gusto.

Let’s be fair, we won’t roll over for them much like we didn’t for Chelsea, but it’s definitely difficult to predict that we’ll come away with any points from the match on Sunday.

Stranger things have happened and it would be quite astonishing if we’re the ones that dent their title hopes, but they’re going to throw everything they have at us.

The question is can we defend the way we did against Chelsea?

All in all it’s a joyous time to be a claret at the moment with the promise of a good run of games to come.

I’d be more worried about Everton if we weren’t already safe, and very much praying that we can finally get the win we swerve against Arsenal on our last game of the season, now that would be a great day.
