ACCRINGTON Stanley have been busy over the last week after completing deals for two players.

Forward Jonny Edwards has returned on a season-long loan from Hull City after impressing for the Reds during the back end of last season, while winger Mekhi McLeod has also joined.

Stanley boss John Coleman is pleased to bring in the duo, and has backed them to make an impact.

“I think we saw glimpses of what Jonny can do last season,” he told the club’s official website.

“Unfortunately when he came to Accrington we had a settled side so his opportunities were limited, but he will get more chances this year and is an exciting prospect.

“Mekhi is an exciting player and one I am sure the fans will be enthused by. Hopefully he will find his football home at Accrington.”

Edwards made 10 appearances for Stanley when he arrived in January, and netted in the game against Doncaster Rovers.

McLeod signs for Stanley having played for the likes of Fulham and Wolves during his career, and the 20-year-old is looking forward to playing for the Reds.

“I am over the moon to sign for Accrington. I have read about the history and how they have kept falling short of promotion and I want to help them achieve that,” he said. “I am really excited. I would like to think I am an exciting player, I like to run on the ball and create chances.

“I haven’t yet scored a league goal so that’s my first aim.

“I watched them at Stevenage on the final game of last season and we have kept the core of that squad together so we should have a good season.

“I want to settle at a club now and establish myself as a league professional football player.”
