Mohammed bin Zayed visits injured diplomats in hospital in Abu Dhabi Funeral prayers for the five Emirati martyrs of Kandahar terrorist bombing UAE humanitarian aid ‘will not be undermined by acts of treachery and hatred’
ABU DHABI // Emiratis have proved their strength, steadfastness, determination and courage in meeting challenges, and have achieved dignity and glory in serving their homeland. With those words, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, spoke for the nation yesterday when he visited UAE diplomat Mubarak Al Saedi at Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
Mr Al Saedi is recovering from injuries sustained in a terrorist bombing last week in Kandahar, where he was helping to lay the foundation stone for an orphanage funded by the UAE.
The Kandahar bombing killed 12 people and injured 18. Five distinguished Emi- ratis were among the dead: Abdulhamid Sultan Al Hammadi, Abdullah Mohammed Al Kaabi, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Tunaiji, Ahmed Al Mazroui and Mohammed Ali Al Bastaki.
The bodies of four of the five were flown back to the UAE yesterday, and funeral prayers took place in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah.
“The provision of support and human- itarian aid for others has been one of the main cornerstones of the UAE since its establishment, and criminal acts resulting from treachery and hatred will not undermine the determination of the UAE people to continue the march of giving and the spread of security and peace,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
