Covid-19: Dubai Sports Council honours the working class
dubai — In these unprecedented and challenging times, the contribution of the working class has been immense. Like they always do, they have risen to the challenge like no other and have been at the frontline each and every day. Not for a moment have they given it a second thought, making sure everything is spick and span so that we are safe.
They are the unsung heroes along with our doctors, nurses, emergency services and law enforcement. And as a tribute to them, the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) appreciated and thanked them for their efforts on International Labour Day.
Also known as the International Workers’ Day or May Day in some countries, the DSC honoured workers and highlighted the role played by them, especially in the ongoing fight against Coronavirus.

appreciation of the role played by them in this important time.
The DSC also posted a short and sweet video, on their social media platforms, to highlight their efforts.
In the video, the DSC said: “Dubai Sports Council celebrates International Labour Day every year in recognition of the efforts of an important group of our society.”
“In this year of challenges, our workers have been at the forefront in the fight against the Covid-19 virus, standing firmly alongside the doctors, nurses, security personnel, volunteers and sterilisation teams, and helping limit the spread of the pandemic. We celebrate their presence in the testing centres in the Al Nasr and Shabab Al Ahli clubs. Our sincerest thanks and deepest gratitude to them.”
The DSC also distributed special gifts to the workers at the two testing centres.
Previously, the Council used to celebrate the day every year by honouring workers and also organising special sports events and competitions for the working class throughout the year in co-operation with different government entities and private national institutions.
Thousands of workers of different nationalities and age have participated in these events, which have fostered team spirit among the participants and encouraged them to embrace a physically active lifestyle.
Sport and recreation is a proven method of improving interpersonal relationships and developing better communication, as well as improving health and moods, and increasing productivity and positive atmosphere.
