Another edition of Dubai Sports World kicks off

dubai — Dubai Sports World (DSW), the region’s largest indoor summer sports arena, hosted an incredible parade featuring worldclass academies and sporting companies, to mark the official opening of the action-packed eighth edition of the summer sporting event.

Running until September 8, at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), DSW will feature an unrivalled line-up of 18 sports and activities and 10 profession­al academies over the 16-weeks duration.

Saeed Mohammed Hareb, secretary general of Dubai Sports Council, said: “The exciting display of sporting spirit and collaborat­ion between different members of the community at the parade is a perfect example of what the UAE stands for; which is tolerance, respect, and togetherne­ss. In fact, as we celebrate the Year of Zayed, it is important to remember that our founding father emphasized on inclusiven­ess and urged people of different nationalit­ies, gender and religions to come together to create a vibrant society.

“We are committed to continuing his legacy and providing a platform for the residents and visitors to come together in an environmen­t where they can play their favourite sports and enjoy new activities,” he added.

Multiple global and regional academies including LaLiga Academy, Prestige Star Sport Academy (PSSA), IFA Football Academy, Juventus Academy Dubai, Tennis 360, Profession­al Sports Academy (PSA), Deepika’s Badminton Academy, G-Force Academy, and Just Play are running training and developmen­t programmes for aspiring players this year.

New to DSW, visitors will be hone their gymnastics skills, play street basketball, enjoy virtual golf, and battle park shooting games, spanning over a 750-square metres ground, featuring two themed fields — the laser-based iBattleFie­ld and iTarget, an electronic auto target system. Gold’s Gym, one of the leading fitness centres in the Emirates also joins DSW this year, and will operate the state-ofthe-art gym over the summer.
