New healthcare facility opens in Capital
abu dhabi — A new multi-specialty healthcare facility that offers quality medical services, including diagnostic tests, one-day surgery and recovery support, has been inaugurated in the Capital.
The Health Shield Medical Centre, a facility owned and operated by Capital Health, a private integrated healthcare group, was officially opened to patients on Wednesday by Mohammed Mohamed Al Hameli, acting undersecretary of the Department of Health-Abu Dhabi.
Located in the Ministries Complex area, the medical centre provides local residents and medical tourists access to world-class technologies, treatments and expertise from leading medical professionals.
The two-floor facility offers healthcare services for the whole family, across 12 specialties including dentistry, cardiology, rheumatology, pulmonology, paediatrics, dermatology, ENT and physical and rehabilitation medicine, amongst others.
The medical centre can serve up to 350 people per day with healthcare services including one-day surgeries.
Dr Mishal Al Kasimi, CEO of Capital Health and Health Shield, told Khaleej Times: “We are basically focusing on what is missing in Abu Dhabi hospitals in terms of services.”
“At Health Shield, we are committed to providing each of our patients with the highest quality of medical care through state-of-theart technologies and we are proud to bring in world-class specialist consultants who are renowned in their respective fields.”
Health Shield Medical Center is just one of the facilities that Capital Health has developed in line with UAE Vision 2021and Plan Abu Dhabi 2030. Capital Health announced in November last year that it will launch another facility to provide intensive and long-term rehabilitation for severe injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents, falls, strokes etc.
The Specialised Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH), a comprehensive rehabilitation hospital, will provide acute, sub-acute and long-term rehabilitation with a capacity of 166 inpatient beds, and will serve outpatients as well.
