- reporters@khaleejtimes.com

Dubai is using artificial intelligence (AI) extensively to increase efficiency of government services delivered in the emirate. > Fighting crime: The Dubai Police will soon have eyes all over the emirate thanks to a new security project that will link CCTV cameras in operation across the emirate to the police control room. The ‘Oyoon’ project will make use of AI and sophisticated technology to prevent and reduce crime. > Visa X-ray scanning: More accurate chest X-ray reports will now be delivered by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) as it has deployed AI across its fitness centres. Reports will now be issued in minutes instead of days. > Transport services with a smile: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launched the world’s first initiative for measuring customer happiness by using AI technology. The initiative at the RTA’s customer happiness centre in Umm Ramool uses AI techniques such as computer vision and automated recognition of facial expression to analyse customers’ impressions after receiving an RTA service. > Faster utility services: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s ‘future centre for customer happiness’ at Ibn Battuta Mall is the first integrated smart customer happiness centre in Dubai which depends on AI and robotics. > Protecting consumer rights: The Department of Economic Development’s ‘smart protection’ service uses AI to respond quickly and efficiently to consumer queries and resolve their complaints. The service engages consumers in a direct dialogue to understand the query or complaint, processes the information gathered, analyses data and provides an immediate solution for consumer complaints based on the applicable policies and laws.
