PM inaugurates first coal cargo terminal
karachi — The government has provided a conducive environment to the business community to take forward the country on the path of development, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbassi said after inaugurating country’s first coal, clinker and cement terminal at Port Qasim in Karachi on Saturday.
Sponsored by the Marine Group of Companies, the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal (PIBT) handles coal, clinker and cargo at the port.
Abbasi said Pakistan has required this terminal for a long time. Few terminals around the world could match the quality of the PIBT, he added.
He said the terminal is environment-friendly and would help kick start exports of cement and clinker from Pakistan.
Abbassi said there is high growth and low inflation scenario in the country.
“This is the lone government in the history of Pakistan which started projects and also completed them before the end of its term,” Abbasi said. The prime minister stressed that democracy is imperative for development of the country. Power rests with the masses to elect their representatives, he added.
He said when the PML (N) assumed power four years ago, the country was faced with many challenges including power outages.
He said 10,000 megawatt of power is being added to the country’s energy supply system keeping in view the future requirements of the country.
Similarly, today gas is available to all the consumers. — APP
