Hungry? Meals on wheels seal the deal
The food truckers fever is catching up fast in the UAE, with trucks becoming a routine sight at mega exhibitions and events in the country.
Cashing in on foodies at Gitex Shopper, food truckers have put up stalls for shoppers and exhibitors during the eight-day exhibition.
Food trucks have a presence at different locations in Dubai such as the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway and a number of other locations in the country.
Most of the visitors to these food truckers are foodies who want to taste different flavours.
Alexandre Teodoresco, the founder of Truckers DXB, said food truck culture was “already doing really well in Europe and the US, so it was only natural that we build it here too. After two very successful seasons, we were always stuck with no place to go during the hot months of summer. The trucks would typically be parked inside the warehouse. This is how we got the idea of creating an experience where we let our followers come inside the warehouse and still enjoy the food trucks. This was the idea behind the Truckers Summer Warehouse.”
The founder of Truckers DXB held the show during summer at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Commenting on what made him believe this venture would become successful, Teodoresco said: “There are no such experiences in Dubai during summer. Nobody has converted a full hall of the DWTC into a giant food court of food trucks. So, we felt that all foodies who are staying in Dubai during summer would really enjoy this new type of event.”
He said the response has been tremendous. “We have had thousands of foodies, families and bloggers visit us so far and they all love it. It’s a really surprising space with a unique vibe. Families love it because there is something to do for every one and 15 menus that will satisfy all kinds of tastes.”
