Sharjah cops launch a joint e-platform
sharjah — The Sharjah Police on Monday launched a joint electronic platform to unify the operations rooms of the Sharjah Police and the Sharjah Civil defence.
Located in the Wasit police station, the joint security platform will receive reports of crime incidents and fire accidents and will also manage the visuals received through advanced surveillance cameras installed in various parts of the emirate.
Brigadier-General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, deputy commander-in-chief of the Sharjah Police, said: “This first-of-its-kind move by the Ministry of the Interior comes within the framework of the Sharjah Security Zone’s endeavour to improve the institutional work and create qualitative changes in the security system through the use of the best modern technology. It will also contribute to achieve the strategic goals of the ‘Sharjah is Safe City’ campaign, keeping pace with future challenges in various aspects.
Brigadier-General Bin Amer said that integrating the operations rooms of the civil defence and the Sharjah Police in a common room is aimed at using all the advanced equipment to increase the coordination process and supporting the two forces in decision-making in a time of emergency.
He stressed the importance of using the mechanisms in supporting the decision-making to achieve the highest level of excellence in the services provided by the Sharjah Security Zone — which include the Sharjah Police, General Directorate

“The effort is aimed at ensuring continuous development to achieve the satisfaction of society, coping with the demographic development and rapid economic, commercial and industrial growth in the emirate. Such rapid development requires the mobilisation of the police to face any security challenge,” Brigadier-General Bin Amer added.
Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi, Director-General of the Sharjah Civil Defence, said that the launch of the joint operation platform will help avoid duplication of communications and reduce response time.
He added that this is the first phase of the joint operations room, which will be completed in the next few days. “The joint operations room will be equipped with the best modern equipment to manage the incidents and accidents of any kind.”
He pointed out that the joint electronic security platform will follow a new system in the future, which will work by sending signals to the police patrols and the civil defence at the same time. This system will help providing speedy access to the scene and will provide pictures from the site to analyse the pros and cons within seconds, through the screens in the common operations room.
Col Al Naqbi said that the current emergency numbers — for the civil defence and the police — will remain until new numbers are created to receive reports through the Joint Operations Room.
