dubai — In line with its strategy to promote Dubai as a lucrative business destination, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s representative office in Azerbaijan recently participated in Astana Economic Forum 2015 held in the Kazakh capital. The event was attended by over 3,000 participants from more than 80 countries.

Dubai Chamber representatives held meetings with executives of international companies, business leaders and government officials on the sidelines of the Forum.

The Astana Economic Forum (AEF) is one of the largest international forums in the world. Held annually since 2008, AEF brings together world business leaders, policy officials, scientists and Nobel Prize laureates to find solutions to economic and social challenges of the time.

The chamber stand received enquiries about guidelines on doing business in Dubai; Dubai Chamber activities; bilateral business opportunities and ways to meet investors in particular sectors in the emirate.

Government and private sector representatives, including officials of Kazakhstan National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, KazNex Invest, Eurasian Economic Commission, UAE Embassy in Kazakhstan, members of the Kazakh Parliament as well as global investors interested in setting up base in Dubai, visited the chamber stand.

Omar Khan, director, international offices, Dubai Chamber, said that the chamber’s participation in the forum was successful. The AEF was an ideal venue to showcase the competitiveness of Dubai businesses as well as the emirate’s investment environment to global investors, especially those from CIS member countries.

He added that the Forum allowed the chamber to reinforce its presence in the CIS market while also allowing regional businesses to explore joint investment ventures with the emirate’s business community.

Khan said that Dubai Chamber’s representative office, since its opening in November 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan, has been regularly participating in regional economic forums and exhibitions, besides organising roundtable discussions and seminars focused on exploring areas of synergy between Dubai businesses and their CIS counterparts.
