dubai — An Egyptian PRO, 34, stood trial in the Court of First Instance on Thursday on the charge of forging, together with a runaway woman accomplice, an employment contract which, they claimed, was issued and signed by a renowned Lebanese fashion designer.

The 50-year-old designer said that he had a company for about 20 years and the PRO had been working in the company for four years.

“I got a call from the Ministry of Labour in September 2012 and was informed that a woman had filed a labour complaint against me,” the designer said during the prosecution investigation.

The designer checked later with the ministry and told them that the woman did not work for him.

“I looked at the employment contract and saw it was forged. It bore a signature that was not mine.”

The designer learnt that it was his PRO who had faked his signature. He could not reach the latter as his mobile phone was switched off.

The designer confronted the woman later and she told him that she used to work from home and the defendant would bring her the clothes to design which she would sell later. However, she could not prove her claims.

The defendant admitted during investigation to having issued an employment visa to the runaway woman accused in December 2011 in Al Qusais. He also confessed that he issued her an employment contract after faking the designer’s signature (the company’s manager).
