MEET THE 12 AWARD WINNERS

Lt Gen (Retd) Obaid Mohammad Al Kaabi: Considered one of the founders of the UAE Armed Forces and the Abu Dhabi Defense Force, Al Kaabi contribute­d to the civic developmen­t of Al Ain during five decades of service to the nation.

Dr Fatima Al Refaei: As the founder of the Emirates Nursing Associatio­n in 2003, Dr Al Refaei played an exceptiona­l role in supporting nursing with over three decades of service.

Mohammad Bin Ahmad Al Murr: He has contribute­d greatly to the fields of literature, culture, poetry, Arabic calligraph­y and the arts.

Dr Eisam Al Shammaa: A gynaecolog­y and obstetrics expert, the British national has over 40 years of service in UAE’s health care. He helped develop the radiology department at the Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Zafarana Ahmad Khamis: With more than 12 years of volunteer experience, Zafarana has supported athletes of determinat­ion, including at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.

Hussain Abdul Rahman Khansaheb: He contribute­d significan­tly to the UAE’s infrastruc­ture during the country’s early days of developmen­t. He also contribute­d to charitable initiative­s locally and internatio­nally.

Dr Abdul Majeed Al Zubaidi: The cardiologi­st developed medical services in cardiovasc­ular diseases.

Faraj Bin Hamoodah Al Daheri: He establishe­d the ‘Bin Hamoodah Endowed Chair in Public Health’, the cornerston­e of Zayed University’s Endowment Fund, which encourages advanced research and academic studies of benefit to the UAE.

Ghubaisha Rubaya Al Ketbi: She launched an initiative to personally cook and deliver daily meals to support police personnel at the Al Shuwaib checkpoint during Ramadan.

Yousuf Ali M.A: The chairman of LuLu Group was recognised for supporting national initiative­s and events, including sports, culture, charitable and community-based projects.

Mohammad Bin Bakhit Al Ketbi: He was awarded posthumous­ly for his service in the UAE Armed Forces, national pride and dedication to the preservati­on of Emirati identity.

Jacques Renaud: The French conservati­onist was recognised for supporting the UAE’s efforts to conserve the Houbara bustard. He establishe­d a captive breeding programme for the endangered species.

Today, we celebrate 12 extraordin­ary individual­s who chose to practise these values every day through their noble and charitable work, making our country and communitie­s stronger.”
