MEET THE 12 AWARD WINNERS
Lt Gen (Retd) Obaid Mohammad Al Kaabi: Considered one of the founders of the UAE Armed Forces and the Abu Dhabi Defense Force, Al Kaabi contributed to the civic development of Al Ain during five decades of service to the nation.
Dr Fatima Al Refaei: As the founder of the Emirates Nursing Association in 2003, Dr Al Refaei played an exceptional role in supporting nursing with over three decades of service.
Mohammad Bin Ahmad Al Murr: He has contributed greatly to the fields of literature, culture, poetry, Arabic calligraphy and the arts.
Dr Eisam Al Shammaa: A gynaecology and obstetrics expert, the British national has over 40 years of service in UAE’s health care. He helped develop the radiology department at the Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi.
Zafarana Ahmad Khamis: With more than 12 years of volunteer experience, Zafarana has supported athletes of determination, including at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.
Hussain Abdul Rahman Khansaheb: He contributed significantly to the UAE’s infrastructure during the country’s early days of development. He also contributed to charitable initiatives locally and internationally.
Dr Abdul Majeed Al Zubaidi: The cardiologist developed medical services in cardiovascular diseases.
Faraj Bin Hamoodah Al Daheri: He established the ‘Bin Hamoodah Endowed Chair in Public Health’, the cornerstone of Zayed University’s Endowment Fund, which encourages advanced research and academic studies of benefit to the UAE.
Ghubaisha Rubaya Al Ketbi: She launched an initiative to personally cook and deliver daily meals to support police personnel at the Al Shuwaib checkpoint during Ramadan.
Yousuf Ali M.A: The chairman of LuLu Group was recognised for supporting national initiatives and events, including sports, culture, charitable and community-based projects.
Mohammad Bin Bakhit Al Ketbi: He was awarded posthumously for his service in the UAE Armed Forces, national pride and dedication to the preservation of Emirati identity.
Jacques Renaud: The French conservationist was recognised for supporting the UAE’s efforts to conserve the Houbara bustard. He established a captive breeding programme for the endangered species.
