Catch John Abraham flexing his muscles to Rani Mukerji taking fans on another comic caper
Bollywood A- listers are returning to the big screen with tried and tested storylines that are being taken forward in the form of a sequel. Films such as Badhaai Do and Satyamev Jayate 2 will be heading to the screen in 2021, while Salman Khan flexes with Kick 2. Here are our top sequel picks of the year.
BADHAAI DO: In the second instalment of the Badhaai Ho franchise, Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar come aboard as lead actors, replacing Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra fromthe original 2018 film. The film is directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni and will showRao playing the only male officer in a female prison in Delhi. Pednekar will reportedly essay the role of a police officer and a physical education teacher.
SATYAMEVA JAYATE 2: John Abraham returns with the sequel to the 2018 hit Satyameva Jayate. The sequel was originally planned for an October release in 2020, but the pandemic rained on its parade and the release got delayed. The Milap Zaveri film also features Divya Khosla Kumar. The action drama will reportedly present Abraham’s character fighting corruption in Lucknow.
BHOOL BHULAIYAA2: The makers have taken the title of the 2007 horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which starred Akshay Kumar, Shiney Ahuja, Vidya Balan and Ameesha Patel. Director Anees Bazmee has said that the newfilm is a different tale with different characters. The newfilm will have a fresh cast led by Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu. It will reportedly include two songs fromthe original film.
EKVILLAIN 2: Directed by Mohit Suri, the film will feature Disha Patani ( pictured), John Abraham and Tara Sutaria. Budding actress Sutaria might get to sing a song in the film, besides essaying a role. Interestingly, actress Shraddha Kapoor, who starred in Ek Villain, crooned a romantic number for the revenge drama that also starred Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh.
HEROPANTI 2: Actor Tiger Shroff will go back to his roots by starring in the sequel to his debut film Heropanti. He is also part of another franchise Baaghi. In October 2020, the action star had tweeted: “Two franchises, one emotion! # Heropanti2&# Baaghi4 # Heropanti2 filming soon. # Baaghi4 details to follow soon. Yet another one with my Mentor # SajidNadiadwala Sir!”
HUNGAMA2: It is the second instalment of Priyadarshan’s 2003 comedy hit Hungama. Actors Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Paresh Rawal, Meezaan and Pranitha Subhash come together in the newfilm. While Rawal featured in the 2003 film’s cast, he got new co- stars for Hungama 2. A fewweeks ago, Shetty Kundra had updated her fans about shooting for the film in Manali.
DOSTANA2: Whilewe will miss the chemistry between Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham, we are pretty sure Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya will stir up a frenzy in this Collin D’Cunha directorial.
BUNTYAURBABLI 2: Rani Mukerji, Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Sharvari kicked things off when they shot portions of the film in Abu Dhabi with director Varun Sharma. Althoughwe will miss Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchah from the original.
GOGOAGONE2: If you laughed your socks off with the first zombie comedy, then you will definitely look forward to Saif Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmureturning for the sequel, whichwe hear could be out in March 2021, that is if the pandemic hasn’t delayed production too much.
KICK 2: Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez, who had starred in the 2014 action heist film Kick, will be reuniting for Kick 2. The newfilm will bring back Khan as Devil ( Devi Lal Singh), a thief with a purpose. The filmwas expected in December 2021, but with Khan already setwith three releases in 2021— Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhat, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and Antim: The Final Truth, we could expect this film to head into 2022.
