Rain, strong winds to hit UAE today

Cloudy and breezy conditions to prevail in most parts

Cloudy skies could bring rainfall in parts of the UAE’s northern and western regions today, according to forecasts yesterday.

In its weather bulletin, the National Centre of Meteorolog­y (NCM) said that cloud cover will continue to widen over a number of areas, including the islands.

Yesterday, rain fell on some parts of the UAE, such as Umm Al Quwain and Qarnen.

For today, winds were forecasted to reach speeds of over 40km/h, with seas moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea.

In coastal areas, where the UAE’s largest cities are located, highs are expected to hover between 26C and 31C, with lows around 18C to 22C.

Cloudy weather with a chance of rain is expected in some northern and western coastal areas of the UAE today, weathermen forecast yesterday.

The National Centre of Meteorolog­y (NCM) said in its weather bulletin that cloud cover will continue to increase in some areas, including the islands. Winds are expected to reach speeds in excess of 40km/h, with seas moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea. In coastal areas, where most of the population lives, highs are expected to be between 26 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees, with lows around 18 degrees to 22 degrees. It follows rainfall in some parts yesterday, such as Umm Al Quwain and Qarnen.

The NCM said the coldest part of the UAE yesterday was on Jebel Jais., where temperatur­es dipped to 9 degrees Celsius by 6am.
