Shahid, Mira welcome daughter
Shahid tweets the arrival of his first child with Mira
Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor and his wife, Mira Rajput, have welcomed their first child together, a girl.
“She has arrived and words fall short to express our happiness. Thank you for all your wishes,” Kapoor tweeted on Friday night.
The 35-year-old, son of veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, married Rajput, 22, last year. The couple met at a spiritual gathering as both their families are followers of the religious group Radha Soami Satsang Beas, a philosophical organisation based on the spiritual teachings of all religions. Kapoor first announced he was going to be a dad in April.
Congratulatory messages came the couple’s way from celebrities soon after Kapoor made the announcement.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted: “Congratulations @shahidkapoor and Mira on birth of an angel. Welcome to the club my friend. Love and blessings to the little one.”
His wife, Genelia D’Souza, tweeted: “Congratulations Shahid Kapoor and Mira. It’s the world’s best feeling and I’m sure you already know how it is. Lotsa love to the little one [sic].”
Filmmaker Karan Johar wrote: “Huge congratulations to @shahidkapoor and Mira ... nothing more precious than a baby girl ... lots of love.”
Anushka Sharma wrote: “Congratulations to both of you and lots of love and good health for the baby girl! Shahid Kapoor.”
