Consternation over garbage skips lined up outside building
Overflowing dumpsters in a residential area of Sharjah force reader to file complaint
The nearest landmark to my home is a garbage dumpster. It’s an eyesore, that’s for sure. But the worst part is that it has remained there for a long, long time.
The location of these dumpsters is near Mahatah Park in Al Qasimia area, Sharjah. What I cannot understand is why they have to be lined up in front of all these residential buildings (as shown in the photograph). All of this is really defacing the property and marring the experience of living in a nice neighbourhood.
Additionally, the site has become a permanent dumping ground for other used items, which need to be discarded. I am ashamed to live in the vicinity of this mess, and have to endure this unwelcome sight every day as I walk in and out of my building. I highly recommend that the authorities move the bins to a more obscure location, where they do not spoil the beauty of the surroundings.
Would I display my trash can at the front door of my house so that it becomes the first thing you see as soon as you walk into my apartment? Of course not! In the same manner, I do not find it logical to place a collection of garbage skips exactly in front of the buildings where families reside.
The pictures I have taken aren’t pretty, but in reality, the situation is worse. There is ample space behind the buildings, which is where these dumpsters actually belong. I hope that they are moved out of view as soon as possible.
