Lakes make for a great weekend!

- (As told to Enid Parker)

o riginally from Cramlington, Northumberland in England, Danielle Palmer has called Dubai home for over five years now and says she can’t imagine not living in the UAE. “The moments that you wouldn’t find anywhere else in the world are the best. When I am back in the UK during summer, I miss those Dubai moments,” she said. Danielle attended the University of Lincoln in 2008 where she read Law. She met her husband when studying, got married and moved to Dubai. Her youngest daughter was born in the UAE. She has been working as a Learning Assistant in Greenfield Community School since September 2016 and is currently studying for her MEd. She hopes to get into teaching when she completes her studies.

NothiNg like speNdiNg time at al Qudra lakes

I have two children who are 8 and 3 years old and there is nothing we love more than to spend our time at Al Qudra Lakes. We go there almost every weekend, even in the summer, but now it’s camping season and we will be there every weekend without fail, making new memories and seeing new animals. It is fantastic and it doesn’t feel like you live in such a big city when you are out there.

Coffee breaks

I also recently discovered a coffee company located at The Last Exit – The Brass. They have the best Lavender and Honey Latte; I will definitely be spending more of my weekend in Al Qudra!

Night beaCh is great

When we are not out in the desert, we normally spend time as a family watching movies and then we go to the beach in the night. It is perfect for my young kids as the waves aren’t strong at night and they can float and play more easily in fresh air as compared to a hot sunny day.
