NT, Microsoft team up on digital service

- KOMSAN TORTERMVASANA

National Telecom (NT) is joining hands with Microsoft to offer “NT Digital Teams Phone” service, enabling organisations to use existing fixed telephone lines with the Microsoft Teams Phone digital solution.

The Microsoft Teams Phone enables call control and private branch exchange capabilities in the Microsoft 365 cloud with the Microsoft Teams solution.

Microsoft Teams solution is a messaging application that provides a workspace for real-time collaboration and communication, meetings as well as file and app sharing, all in one place.

NT president Col Sanphachai Huvanandana said the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding to create products and services to develop the NT Digital Teams Phone service, targeting state and private agencies that have fixed telephone lines.

The service aims to generate 5 billion baht in revenue for NT this year.

Col Sanphachai said the collaboration is intended to raise the level of NT’s fixed line service in a digital voice format under the concept of “Any Device Anytime, Anywhere @ The Same Price”, offering the useful solution to reduce the burden of telecom costs for government agencies and private companies.

The move also seeks to generate a new revenue stream for NT in the future as it will lose around 40 billion baht in revenue per year when the partnership contracts it forged with private telecom operators expire in September 2025.

Users of the NT Digital Team Phone solution can use their landline phone numbers together with the Microsoft Teams Phone solution from everywhere in Thailand, as well as abroad, through the internet network.

Col Sanphachai believes the service will increase the number of fixed line telephone customers from the existing

The service package for corporates starts at 4,000 baht per month.

Chanikarn Pronanun, deputy managing director of government and education business at Microsoft (Thailand), said NT Digital Teams Phone moves fixed telephone service into the digital era through the Microsoft Teams application.

This will support the efficient use of voice on fixed telephone lines to serve customers in online communication, online data transmission, online meetings and even via the telephone at no additional cost.
