CAT offers QR code billing via KTB app

- KOMSAN TORTERMVASANA

CAT Telecom’s 2.3 million customers can pay their bills via a single QR code crossbank payment solution on the Krungthai NEXT application.

The move is to facilitate CAT’s customers, both under fixed broadband and mobile service, as well as to improve the company’s cash management and reduce operational costs.

The collaboration between Krungthai Bank (KTB) and CAT will also strengthen digital infrastructure development, especially big data analytics, said Col Sanphachai Huvanandana, president of CAT.

He said the partnership will support the expansion of personal payment channels in response to changes in consumer behaviour in the digital age and the government’s cashless policy.

As a national digital and telecommunications provider, CAT’s key mission is to develop digital business with modern technology such as Internet of Things, big data and smart cities on its communications network.

“CAT and KTB are considering further cooperation through the development of digital infrastructure and big data analytics that would benefit the business and customers of both parties,” said Col Sanphachai.

He said transactions via the Krungthai NEXT app could be developed for big data analytics management, supporting the business such as offering credit loans and launching new digital services to specific groups of customers.

CAT has 2.3 million retail customers, with 2 million under its “My” mobile service on the 850-megahertz network, and 300,000 under its fixed broadband service.

Payong Srivanich, president and chief executive of KTB, said Krungthai NEXT will offer CAT customers more convenience through QR code cross-bank bill payment service, allowing them to pay for bills via any mobile banking apps.

“This directly improves cash management, reduces cash collection and errors. Moreover, the bank plans to provide other financial services for CAT and other government agencies such as bill payment via KTB corporate online,” he said.

Mr Payong said KTB has been assigned to jointly support the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy by applying new technology to serve customers and citizens.

KTB also announced a digital strategy called “Invisible Banking”, positioning itself for wireless transactions customers can complete anytime, anywhere using Krungthai NEXT.

The bank provides cash management services to CAT for both debit and credit, such as payment for telecom bills via debit and credit cards, EDC machines, automatic direct debit services, payroll, KTB direct credit and KTB fleet card.
