THE FIRM EAST MEETS WEST Sukhumvit Soi 33 thefirmbangkok.com, fb.com/thefirmbangkok, fb.com/Thefirmrestaurant24hr 02-258-3644 THE SETTING

The Firm is a few metres down Sukhumvit 33, a short walk from BTS Phrom Phong and at first glance looks like a nightclub. It a nightclub, but it’s also one of the very few restaurants in Bangkok that serve food 24/7. Yes, you read that right: the kitchen doesn’t stop and dishes out food around the clock. The first and second floors are dining areas while the third to fifth floors are where you can dance the night away. Most of the time, nightclub-goers fill the dining area before heading home. Don’t get us wrong, The Firm isn’t just for late night/ early morning, post-party people. You can definitely head over for breakfast, lunch or dinner because what they’ve got to offer is a feast at any time of day or night.

THE MENU

The Firm’s menu in a nutshell is best described as “East Meets West”. Local dishes are available along with a number of delicacies that are seemingly familiar but with quirky, fun names. However, it’s not just the names that make the dishes different, but the different twists on each of them.

We started off with something easy: The Firm’s cold cuts named Tray d’excellence (B390), which comes with Iberico ham and other meats served with gorgonzola and brie cheese and bread. It was the perfect dish to get us going and prepare us for what was to come. A few other starters we tried were the Citrus Peruvian (B380), a refreshing salad with generous helpings of salmon and a contrast of crunchy green apple, and the tuna (B290), a variation of a local favourite to give a bit of initial kick to your feasting.

The main courses allow you to go for whatever you’re craving at the time. There are pastas, local Thai dishes, risottos and a few more. We tried the Lamb Milanese (B1,200), which is a must for meat lovers. It’s cooked just right so that it’s soft and falls off the bone, and was the right amount of “gamey”.

However the star of it all was the pizza. The menu has a large number of pizzas you can order, but The Firm also allows you to create your own Gourmet pizza (B380). We chose ham, rocket leaves and a generous amount of cheese, and while that definitely helped in making this dish delicious, the thing that elevated it was the dough. Yes, The Firm’s pizza dough is soft and cooked just right, which makes this such a great iteration of the classic dish. It’s definitely something you cannot miss when you pay them a visit.

To round off our meal, we had two desserts. The Tiramisu, I miss you (B240) is for the matcha lovers — a green tea version of the Italian dessert. But if you’re partial to chocolate, then, without a doubt, you should opt for the Chocolate ecstasy (B220). Everyone loves soft dough cake oozing with chocolate on the inside, right? And when paired with ice cream? Dessert bliss.

INSIDER’S TIP

The Firm has a number of drinks, but our favourites would have to be The Firm martini (B290) and O captain my captain (B340). The former is more fruity while the latter is a tad stronger. The Firm’s nightclub is open from Thursday until Saturday. They play house music on Thursday, hip-hop on Friday, and pop/mash-ups on Saturday. The party starts at 10pm and ends at 4am.

VALUE & VERDICT

More than just another venue for partygoers, The Firm offers an array of delicious dishes that you can have any time of the day — breakfast, lunch, or dinner — without having to break the bank. Their menu is concise yet varied ensuring that we’ll be coming back for more.
