Director probed for alleged student slap

- POST REPORTERS

Khon Kaen justice officials have launched a probe into a school director who was accused of slapping a student in the face.

Narin Promsakha, acting chief of the Khon Kaen Justice Provincial Office, yesterday questioned a Mathayom 2 (8th Grade) student, called “Nong Jo”, and his parents about the incident.

Speaking after the inquiry, Mr Narin said the boy’s father insisted he did not want to compromise and wanted the school director to be transferred.

As for Nong Jo, he will continue studying at the school although he was still afraid of Mr Wanprakorn Jumpolnoi, director of Ban Phai Suksa school, and did not want to go the school now.

Mr Narin said he has not questioned the school director yet as he went to meet his superior to report about the incident.

The probe result will be conveyed to the Secondary Education Service Area Office 25, which oversees the school, he added.

The allegation came to light after the father of the boy, Paiboon Phoudom, 48, lodged a complaint with Ban Phai police against Mr Wanprakorn on June 30.

The father accused the school director of slapping his son’s face, forcing the boy to confess to the theft of a senior student’s iPhone the day before.

Mr Paiboon yesterday said that on the day of the incident, Mr Wanprakorn summoned Nong Jo to his office.

He took out his mobile phone and showed him a video clip of a student stealing the iPhone from a bag in a classroom, and asked the boy whether the student in the clip was him.

After Nong Jo denied it, Mr Wanprakorn slapped him on the face.

The boy decided to admit to the theft as he was afraid of being hit by the head teacher again, his father said.

Mr Paiboon said he wanted the school director to express responsibility for the incident, adding a transfer order should be issued against him.

His son is now suffering from tinnitus after his ear was injured when Mr Wanprakorn slapped him.

Mr Paiboon insisted legal action must be taken against the school director.

According to the father, Mr Wanprakorn came to see his son at their house, asking the boy to stay silent about the issue.
