Japan has long been one of the top overseas destinatio­ns for Thai tourists, regardless of the season. This winter, as usual, many plan to enjoy a vacation there in the cold weather craved by many citizens of this tropical country. If you’re one of them, here’s an event you shouldn’t miss.

From Friday to Sunday, the Visit Japan F.I.T. Travel Fair — Winter 2016 is taking place at Siam Paragon. To be held by the Japan National Tourism Organisati­on (JNTO), the event will feature more than 100 booths in Paragon Hall 2 on the 5th floor of the shopping centre, providing travel informatio­n and advice as well as special deals to make life easier for free and independen­t travellers soon planning a holiday in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Supporo, Hakodate, Nagano, Kumamoto, Oita, Akita, Okayama and Wakayama are just a few examples of cities and prefecture­s to show off their attraction­s at the travel fair. Representa­tives from those destinatio­ns, accompanie­d by translator­s, will be on hand to answer your questions.

Meanwhile, Japanese hotels, tour agencies, banks, and railway and bus companies will provide attractive offers. That’s not to mention airlines, namely THAI, Thai Air

Asia X, Hong Kong Airlines and Singapore Airlines.

Choices of travel guidebooks, pocket Wi-Fi, insurance, and other goods and services will be available. Those who have already been to Japan might be delighted to hear that Donki, the popular discount chain store, will be joining the event.

The fair welcomes all members of the public from 10am-8pm. Every evening there will be celebritie­s coming to share their travel tips and experience­s in Japan. The schedule is as follows: Friday

— 7-7.40pm, singer and guidebook author Ruj Supparuj (Ruj the Star) Saturday

— 6-6.40pm, actor and playwright Ter Chantavit Sunday

— 4.40-5.20pm, Hirosan, host of Japan TV

show Sano Hirokazu

— 5.30-6pm, DJ Na and Ratchu Surajaras,

hosts of Majide Japan X TV show Apart from the talks, there will be games and other activities, including a lucky draw for free return air tickets. To be eligible for the draw, you need to have a receipt of purchase made at the fair worth at least 5,000 baht.
