Gallic vegan fest

To celebrate the vegetarian festival with a Gallic culinary savoir faire, J’aime French restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Jean-Michel Lorain at U Sathorn Bangkok hotel presents a seven-course vegan degustatio­n menu prepared without meat or any animal by-products.

Available for both lunch and dinner during the festive period of Oct 1-9, the tasting menu promises to be a bliss for the eyes, hearty for the stomach and soothing for the soul.

J’aime’s head chef Amerigo Sesti has crafted the concept using mainly organic vegetables and artisan produce to showcase his cooking ingenuity through a parade of awe-inspiring meat-free dishes.

Diners will be treated to the likes of pumpkin ganache served with gac fruit declinatio­n and almonds; red beetroot sphere with yellow beetroot, sea lettuce and yuzu gelée; “Haribo-like” vegetarian roulette; baked carrot ravioli scented with orange and timut pepper; caramelise­d eggplant served with chickpea purée quinoa and Mediterran­ean vegetables; and a choice of truffled Jerusalem artichoke risotto or organic egg yolk confit with sweetcorn purée, pop Dauphine, red cabbage powder and vegetable thyme jus. The meal is to finish off with green mango crèmeux with blood orange gelée and sticky nut biscuit, and also inclusive of tea and coffee.
