Must see places to visit at One Galle Face

-

Having opened recently One Galle Face is already gaining a following and with the festive season upon us it offers the perfect excuse to explore its surroundings.

With a few sweet spots to chill and relax here are a few places that caught our eye.

PVR Cinema

The Cinema complex by PVR is a must for any movie fan. With 9 screens in 4k resolution and dolby atmos sounds, they boast two formats: Playhouse and Luxe. Playhouse is labelled as a ‘kids auditorium concept’ while Luxe claims to be a game changer in luxury cinema experience. It includes gourmet food, sofa chairs, ambient lighting, and looks to be any movie geek’s dream.

Situated on the top floor of One Galle Face, PVR is determined to elevate the bar of your movie experience. They do maintain a few rules, such as no helmets and backpacks in the cinema, as well as no outside food. If you’re booking online, make sure to double check all the details, since no changes or cancellations are accepted once the initial booking is done.

Prices range from Rs. 600-Rs.1200 depending on your selected title, show date and time, as well as seat and screen.

Sarasavi Bookshop

Why is Sarasavi on this list? It’s just a bookshop. And there are plenty of Sarasavi book shops that everyone goes to, right? Wrong! The Sarasavi Bookshop on the 4th floor looks like an ordinary bookshop at first glance, but once you take two steps inside the hubbub fades out and you find yourself inside one of the most uniquely laid out stores in the mall.

With floor to ceiling book cubbies, bookshelves, and comfortable seats, it’s easily a place to lose yourself in for a few hours. Sarasavi has a collection of Young Adult books, Children’s books, books specialising in a range of topics from history to horses, and even biographies and memoirs.

The Toy Store

Simply named ‘The Toy Store’, this shop is not only a kid’s dream, it’s a collectors dream as well. Including bead kits, to dolls, to lego collections, there’s even a range of board games, plushies, and dinosaurs. While of course the kids will go crazy, so will a fair amount of adults.

The Toy Store is located on the fourth floor, right next to the kid’s adventure zone, so you’re guaranteed to find the place.

The Game Arcade

While game arcades have evolved through the years, One Galle Face has combined the high tech VR rides of modern times with the old school arcade games many of us love. As such, it succeeds in making even the 90’s people rush in.

From shooting games to VR rides to good old Karaoke, there are quite a few activities you can engage in. Game coins can be bought at the arcade counter for Rs.50 each, which is a deal compared to many other arcades in the country.
