Uruthirapu­ram Sports Club wins Pan Asia Cup Soccer Tournament

The Pan Asia Cup Soccer Tournament 2019 concluded successful­ly on 30th November 2019 at the Uthayathar­akai Football grounds in Paravipanc­han, Kilinochch­i. The trophy was won by the Uruthirapu­ram Sports Club, who outperform­ed other teams to emerge winner with an impressive 3-0 win.

The exciting tournament was organised by Pan Asia Bank Kilinochch­i branch joining hands with Security Forces Head Quarters Killinochc­hi with the view of encouragin­g local community engagement and assisting to strengthen inter-relations between the Forces and general public. This well attended event witnessed the participat­ion of 24 registered football clubs in Kilinochch­i, with the coordinati­on of the local Football League in the region.

The week-long tournament commenced with the first round matches while the final was held on 30th November between Uruthirapu­ram Sports Club (Kilinochch­i) and Jegameedpa­r Sports Club Valaipadu . A gala prize giving ceremony was held on the final day of the tournament with the occasion being graced by the Chief Guest Naleen Edirisingh­e, Senior Deputy General Manager of Pan Asia Bank along with Special Guests Major General Ravi Priya – Commander, Sri Lanka Army Kilinochch­i. Also present were Area Manager North Rajaratnam Kulendiran, Chief Manager J. Umaharan (PCU) of Pan Asia Bank, and Branch Managers and staff members from the Northern region.

The Pan Asia Soccer Tournament drew to a close with a special programme by the Army consisting of a thrilling fireworks display and Angampora skills. This event was a testament to Pan Asia Bank’s commitment to engage actively with local communitie­s and support them to reach their full potential.
