NOEL LAKSHMAN ANGUNAWELA, 80 of Virginia, USA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, in his home surrounded by family. He was born to dignified parents, Steven Angunawela and Wimala (Illanganti­lake), in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Noel is survived by his wife of 56 years, Claire Angunawela; and his four children, Judy, Fabian, Suzanne, and Sonia; sons-in-law, and daughter-inlaw. Noel leaves behind seven grand-children, and two sisters, Manel Perera (Bamberaden­iya) and Irangani Karunaratn­e, and several nieces and nephews. Noel was predecease­d by b rothers Eric and Malcolm Angunawela. Noel was known for his love of his hometown of Kandy, where he grew up until he was a young man before joining the Sri Lankan Army. Visitation is on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019, at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, in "9902 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, Virginia 22032," from 10am to 11pm, followed by a short funeral service at 12 noon Burial will follow at the Fairfax Memorial Park in Virginia, USA. Remains will lie at Jayaratne Funeral Parlour from 9.00 am on wards on 1st December 2019. Cortege leaves parlour for cremation at Borella General Cemetery Hindu Section at 3.30pm.
