-

The Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) has been conferred the Most Emerging Education Institute of the Year Award at the South Asian Partnership Summit & Business Excellence Awards 2019 held in Colombo this week. The award was received by Founder/ CEO of SLTC Eng. Ranjith G. Rubasinghe and Chairman SLTC Mr. Kumarasinghe Sirisena from the former President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena.

The South Asian Business Excellence Awards were introduced to acknowledge and reward the exceptional work and results gained by the trailblazers of the corporate domain, including political, social, economic and financial initiatives in the face of an ever- increasing competitive market. Vying against other educational institutes from across the South Asian region, the SLTC scored high for providing unparalleled higher education of international standards and research opportunities, through which it envisions to produce career-ready global graduates. This is crucial as Sri Lanka is poised to becoming a regional player in various verticals and will depend on a highly educated and versatile workforce that is capable of intelligent, assertive and forward- thinking ideas to keep up with the region.

The judging panel, comprising a select group of local and foreign professionals, used their in- depth understanding of the current stateof-the-art standards to evaluate and make their final decisions. The purpose of these awards is to recognize and honor the most respected companies within a variety of industries, whilst rewarding remarkable success in all its forms throughout the South Asian business community. Nominations were called by corporates and companies from across the South Asia.

In just four years since its inception, the SLTC, a fully owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC has garnered this top spot due to the commitment put in by the management, faculty and staff to make this higher education institute worthy of the national need for strong, educated, and well- rounded students who will pass out as the future leaders and entrepreneurs of this country. Since its inception SLTC has strived to create well groomed professionals who were not only career ready but also geared to be multifaceted exemplary citizens who could lead the growth of their country. In doing so SLTC has instilled in its community a sense of civic responsibility, passion for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Since 2014, the SLTC has been offering a unique combination of Engineering and Technology degree programmes and pathways. But since has added the School of Business, School of Computing and IT, School of Music and other pathways to empower and offer students more opportunities and to broaden their horizons.

The SLTC is the only corporatepowered residential campus, located at the former SLT Satellite Earth Station at Padukka. SLTC maintains highly recognized affiliations with world class institutions such as the Auckland University New Zealand, Lancaster University UK, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Georgia Institute of Technology USA, Texas Tech USA, Trinity College Dublin Ireland, and Deakin University Australia.
