Jetwing driving effective workplace communication with Microsoft

-

Sri Lanka’s largest resort and hotel brand, Jetwing, has partnered with Microsoft to help it coordinate multiple lines of hospitality and travel business. In an expansion of their partnership, Microsoft and Jetwing announced a deal via which Jetwing will be moving its workforce to Office 365.

Office 365 is a Software as a Service ( SaaS) solution that includes Microsoft Office and other services, such as email and collaboration. The resort brand considered the implementation of Office 365 to be an integral part of its digital transformation strategy, according to a joint media release. “Our vision is to extend the power of our technology as far forward as we possibly can into our guests and our employees,” said Upul Gunasinghe, Head of IT at Jetwing Group. “Of our 1,000 employees, about 300 are in Colombo, but we’re all over the island. People had to take time away from work to drive to different locations for meetings. By using Skype for business, we can have effective online meetings and do other work simultaneously. Office 365 helps to increase the mobility and productivity of our workforce.” With access to OneDrive, Jetwing employees can now share and work together on all their files—wherever they are. They can work faster and smarter in real time with colleagues both inside and outside the organisation, using familiar Microsoft Office applications like Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. And with the built-in intelligence of Office 365, employees can find the information and files they are looking for faster. Moving to the cloud has improved the IT team’s ability to focus on more strategic projects for Jetwing. “Moving to the cloud really freed up our IT resources. We can now spend more time leveraging visualisation and business intelligence tools to build our own occupancy forecasting charts for effective planning and quick decision making. With Office 365, we see a significant opportunity to extend our reach, especially into the employee base, and give people more technological power to do their jobs. The productivity of our workforce is the number-one reason we moved to Office 365. As we become a more productive workforce, we can serve our customers better,” Mr. Gunasinghe added. “Streamlined communication among employees is vital for business prod u c t iv i t y, ” said Hasitha Abeywardena, Country Manager, Microsoft Sri Lanka and Maldives. “Office 365 provides Jetwing with a wide range of communication tools to enable smooth communication among its employees at all levels.”
