Ahan cracks second successive ton

Ahan Sanchitha cracked his second successive ton when he made an unbeaten 111 in 137 balls that included 17 boundaries in the Under-15 Division One second round match against Dharmapala Kottawa played at Royal junior ground in Reid Avenue.

Ahan was involved in a massive 166 run stand for the third wicket with Isiwara Dissanayak­e who made 75 with ten boundaries which helped Royal taking first lease make a formidable score of 275 for 3 declared and Dharmapala in their turn ended the day on 70 for 7.

Kavindu Umayanga slammed a quick fire unbeaten knock of 202 in just 153 balls comprising of 35 boundaries and four sixes as Holy Cross College Kalutara registered an easy first inning win over Bandaranay­ake MMV in their second round match of the Under 15 Division One cricket tournament played at Kalutara Esplanade.

Kavindu’s unbeaten double ton saw Holy Cross taking first lease of the wicket make a score of 277 for 6 declared. Later Holy Cross bowlers Vihanga Gunaratne and Chanuka Perera shared eight wickets between them to bundle out their opponents for a lowly 63.

Wins for De Mazenod, Thurstan and Isipathana

In the other second round matches that were played saw De Mazenod Kandana along with Thurstan, Isipathana and Mahanama Colombo too recording first inning wins over Trinity, Mahinda, Maris Stella and St Xavier’s Marawila played at Kandana, Galle, Panadura and Kelaniya.
