Partner to the World’s Prestigious Universities – Medical Degrees from World Renowned Universities

The International Medical University ( IMU), Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with 22 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education, pioneered the partner university model. It has established a strong global network of more than 30 partner institutions of higher learning. IMU’s diverse partner universities include universities from the UK, Australia, US, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and China. This reflects its historic commitment to opening doors to education and training opportunities outside Malaysia via credit transfer programmes, opportunities.

For its medical programme, students can choose to study the first two and a half years of the degree in IMU and transfer to one of its partner universities in Australia, UK, Ireland, Canada or USA for completion of the medical programme. IMU’s partner universities for the medical programme include world’s prestigious universities such as University of Edinburgh, University of Manchester, St. George’s University of London, University of Adelaide, University of Tasmania and National University of Ireland, Galway.

The international partnerships with these partner universities mean that the IMU curriculum has been developed to meet these universities’ high international standards. To date, about 3,000 students have undergone this option and graduated from these partner universities since IMU started offering the medical programme in 1993. Many of these students have done well at the partner universities, with some of them excelling in their studies and winning many prizes.

The University’s School of Medicine was conferred the Association for Medical Education in Europe ( AMEE) ASPIRE for Excellence Award in the area of “Student Engagement” at the 2013 AMEE conference in Prague, Czech Republic. Being the Inaugural AMEE ASPIRE for Excellence Award, IMU is one of the first Medical Schools in the world to win this award.

Student engagement is highly valued in IMU as it enhances the student learning experience and provides evidence and direction for continuous improvement and strategic planning. Students are engaged in every aspect of the university life, whether it is in academic activities, research, healthcare, community projects, conferences, workshops etc.
