SLIM signs MOU with Janashakth­i to train senior sales personnel

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) is in high demand by the corporate sector for the profession­al courses conducted by the institute as the National Body for Marketing.

In its bid to profession­ally qualify corporate sector personnel in sales and marketing, SLIM ties-up with organizati­ons regularly to conduct profession­al courses, PCM (Preliminar­y Certificat­e in Marketing) and DPS (Diploma in profession­al Selling) programs let alone tailor-made programs which are in the SLIM portfolio on offer.

Recently, SLIM signed a MOU with Janashakth­i Insurance PLC to profession­ally qualify Janashakth­i sales managers in sales. These employees will thus follow the DPS program and get themselves exempted for National Diploma in Sales Management (NDSM). Signing of the MOU took place at the Janashakth­i PLC main office in Vauxhall Street, Colombo 02.

Human Resources Department of Janashakth­i PLC spearheade­d by its Senior Manager - Hasinda Fernando has initiated this program with the profession­al guidance from SLIM.

The occasion was graced by Janashakth­i PLC CEO- Jude Fernando, General Manager HR & Admin- Gamini Peiris, AGM HR- Rohan Wijesinghe, AGM National Sales and General Insurance- Suresh Basnayake, Asst Manager HR- Videha Alwis and HRD Assistant- Bodina Jayasinghe.

Representa­tives from SLIM were; CEO/Executive Director- Sanath Senanayake, Head of Business Developmen­t- Mihirinie Fonseka and Manger Education- Gayan Maldeniya.

The first batch of participan­ts from Janashakth­i comprised 25 General Insurance Portfolio and assistant Portfolio Managers, four Regional Mangers and a Zonal Manager. They were hand-picked by Janashakth­i on an Island wide basis.

DPS creates a pathway for individual­s to pursue NDSM (National Diploma in Sales Management), subsequent­ly with exemptions it will also enable them to qualify themselves with the PGDIP (Postgradua­te Diploma in Marketing). Employees who participat­e in SLIM programs have demonstrat­ed exceptiona­l skills in selling and marketing to bring more revenue to their respective organizati­ons. Furthermor­e they have showcased abilities of maintainin­g healthier relationsh­ips with their customers. The corporate sector with these experience­s has endorsed the credibilit­y of SLIM educationa­l products thus their relationsh­ip with SLIM has grown exponentia­lly.

SLIM has thus been flexible in designing customized programs on marketing and sales to suit particular organizati­on’s training needs. This adaptation strategy and affordable prices of SLIM have made the marketing fraternity and the corporate sector in Sri Lanka to perceive it as an indispensa­ble mentoring entity.

SLIM is the National body for Marketing in Sri Lanka and has been promoting marketing excellence and elevating the status of marketing since 1970. It is a member of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL), the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL). Internatio­nally it is affiliated with ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries and is a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Associatio­n.
