Let the Brain Play the Game
The CIMA Mind Challenge organized by the CIMA Students’ Society (CIMASS) concluded with resounding success at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on the 5th of April, last Sunday.
Branding itself under the tagline ‘Let the Brain Play the Game’, the CIMA Mind Challenge Quiz Competition was organized for the 17th occasion this year. This is a highly anticipated and sought-after annual quiz competition catering to the quiz whizzes from the CIMA fraternity, the corporate sector and universities as well.
The project was spearheaded by project chairman, Hamza Mufti Naleer whereas Mahdi Mudassir was the cochairman.
The event was structured into three phases, with each phase encompassing questions posed from a wide and varied range of disciplines. Current affairs & General Knowledge, CIMA Curriculum, Sports, Entertainment, and Business Affairs were the five major spheres in which the contestants’ acumen was put in to test. Such a platform would undoubtedly aid in furthering the aim of enhancing the soft skills possessed by the participants in order to flourish in an ever- evolving competitive work atmosphere.
A total of 32 teams participated at the event, comprising corporate, local university and other individual teams. It was a battle of wits and the atmosphere was charged with electrifying intensity as each team vied to make it through to the final stage and win the coveted ‘CIMA Mind Challenge 2015 Trophy’. After a nail-biting finale, team ‘Brain Busters’ enrolled as an Individual Team emerged triumphant, the team representing MAS Intimates was awarded Runner Up. The corporate team representing IFS Sri Lanka successfully bagged third place, followed by Team Azzuri, enrolled in as an Individual Team was awarded fourth place.
Vipula Gunatilleka, Group Chief Corporate Officer / Director, Aitken Spence Group Ltd, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest for the event. Panel of Judges comprised Navin Ratnayake, Assistant Manager, John Keells Stock Brokers and Gerard Wickrema, Assistant Vice President, Banks and FIs at Fitch. CIMA Mind Challenge Quiz Competition was hosted by radio personality extraordinaire, Quiz Master Shanaka Amarasinghe.
