Strategies for setting up and developing IT, BPM and FAO operations
Sri Lanka’s IT/BPM industry, the fifth largest export revenue earner for the country has grown from USD 213 million in 2007 to USD 720 million in 2013 and 33,700 to 75,100 from 2007-2013 in terms of direct employment according to SLASSCOM, PWC- IT/BPM industry review conducted in 2013. The industry is poised to reach USD 5 billion in revenue, facilitate 1,000 industry start-ups and provide 200,000 direct jobs (600,000 indirect jobs) by 2022.
Considering the industry’s growth potential and need for start-ups, it is imperative that knowledge and best practice sharing forums on such topics are facilitated. With this objective, CIMA and SLASSCOM will be conducting a forum sharing best practices on IT/BPM and FAO start-ups. This forum will be a platform facilitating key note speeches from industry experts along with rewarding discussions on sustainable markets, people and process development of existing IT/BPM and FAO operations in Sri Lanka.
The forum plans to explore varied topics such as; strategies for setting up and developing a FAO/ BPM operation by Omar Fatharally, Director, Tellida ( Pvt) Ltd, Business process transformation using shared services by Dr. Arul Sivagananathan, Managing Director, Hayleys Industrial Solutions and Hayleys BPO and on opportunities for IT Start ups covered by Madu Ratnayake, Chairman Emeritus at SLASSCOM, Head of Digital, SVP & General Manager, Virtusa
This forum will also be looking at creating a platform through a panel discussion to explore ‘how Sri Lanka’s BPM industry can achieve sustainable growth’ featuring industry expert panelists namely; Fayaz Hudah, Programme Head at ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), Ghanshyam Das Khandelwal, Head of HSBC Securities Services Operations, Sri Lanka, Vipula Gunatilleke, Chief Corporate Officer/Director, Aitken Spence PLC and Hariharan Padmanaban, Director – Business Development, H Connect Private Limited.
