Chrissy Bags the Prestigious City & Guilds Medal of Excellence Award for the second time

-

Chrissy Rozairo the owner of Chrissy Hair Design Studio & Academy has come a long way since the inception of her salon at 1 1 2 / 4 , A lwis Town, Hendala, and subsequently Kandana, almost 25 years ago. As she nostalgically recalled from a very early age she showed a lot of enthusiasm in hair and make- up, and this was the stepping stone to her prolific and successful career in Hair & Beauty.

Having, herself gone to the UK and qualified at several, well known UK hair Institutes, Chrissy was now geared to enter professionally into the Hair & Beauty Trade, both in the commercial aspect as well as into the training aspect. Considering the available options at the time she decided to go with the best British Qualification in town which happened to be the City & Guilds Hair & Beauty qualification.

As she mentioned, it was more than just a career, but about balancing family life and her job, which finally prompted her to set- up her salon at home, where it still stands.

C h r i s s y ’ s bu s i n e s s developed and her clientele increased, Chrissy then set up a training facility to train aspiring Hair & Beauty personnel. This was mostly due to the lack of qualified personnel operating Beauty Parlours which were mushrooming in around the city and suburbs. She established the training facility in Kandana adja- cent to the salon, where her students could master the finer aspects of Hair & Beauty. City & Guilds happens to be the most prestigious qualification in town in Hair & Beauty and starts at Certificate Level, Diploma l eve l and Advance Diploma Level and thereafter the Charter which is the highest qualification leading to professional status. Chrissy had the opportunity of being the past president of SLAHAB [ Once again Chrissy excelled in this particular area by getting involved personally and showing her students the finer points in Hair & Beauty not just theory, practical and technique but the essential areas of safety and cleanliness which was as important.

As her students made progress in this area of Hair & Beauty she made it a point to enter ultra enthusiastic students for medals of excellence and this year one of her enthusiastic students Thewarasige Tharanga Fernando [ Level 2 IVQ in Beauty Therapy] was the recipient of a prestigious medal of excellence, the second medal received by one of her students

Tharanga started the initial course in Hair & Beauty at the Academy and was soon absorbed into the regular staff because of his enthusiasm and ability to learn fast. It was while in the employment of Chrissy that Tharanga had the opportunity to progress rapidly, finally achieving the prestigious medal of excellence.
