Unique pathway to become high quality Chemistry Graduates

Advanced Level qualified and hopefuls now have unique opportunit­y to become high quality Graduate Chemists without any delay within 4 years at minimal cost by enrolling for the only internatio­nally accredited Chemistry degree level programme in Sri Lanka

The College of Chemical Sciences ( CCS) informs all students sitting the Advanced level examinatio­n this year that they have a unique non convention­al opportunit­y to read for a BSc ( Chemistry) Honours degree level equivalent qualificat­ion by enrolling to follow a four year Graduatesh­ip Programme offered by the profession­al body of Chartered Chemists in Sri Lanka and become fully qualified high level profession­al Graduate Chemists by the end of 2018.This programme, which is the only Chemistry programme to be internatio­nally accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK in Sri Lanka. can be followed either at weekends or on three weekdays provided applicants have or hope to obtain three A/L science subject passes including Chemistry (irrespecti­ve of the number of sittings). Provided satisfacto­ry progress is made from year to year, all applicants have the unique opportunit­y to attain this goal without competitio­n from fellow students. Such an opportunit­y is not available in any other tertiary level institutio­n in Sri Lanka.

Professor J N Oleap Fernando, the Honorary Rector, CCS of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) states in a media release that by enrolling immediatel­y, prospectiv­e students of CCS could follow the programme without any delay and qualify as Graduate Chemists before the end of 2018 within a time scale that is impossible to obtain in any other institutio­n offering a similar programme in Chemistry. Students also have the unique opportunit­y to be tutored by a wide array of experts in their relevant fields and also offers a series of elective courses in applied fields in the last 2 years of the programme. The programme which has pro- gressed with the highest possible academic standards coupled with much quality enhancemen­t over a nearly four decade period from 1978 will produce the thousandth Graduate Chemist by the end of the year. A large number of these students have obtained high level employment and/or post-graduate degrees including doctorates from some of the best universiti­es globally including Sri Lanka, USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerlan­d, Norway, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
