Softlogic Life Insurance PLC announced the appointment of Sanjaya W. Mohottala and Lalith Withana to the company’s board as Independent Non-executive Directors, with effect from July 1, 2021, succeeding the two outgoing directors Ray Abeywardena and Sujeewa Rajapakse, who stepped down from the board on June 30, 2021, after serving the statutory period of nine years.
The new appointments are subject to the approval of the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL).
Mohottala serves as Managing Director and Partner at Boston Consulting Group in Singapore and is responsible for deploying resources, client portfolio management, development of practice areas and people development. At an operational level, he advises principal investors and private equity (PIPE) clients, sovereign wealth fund (SWF), global MNCS, regional and local companies. His expertise is further backed by macro experience in M&A, investments, corporate development, strategy, reorganisation, go-to market, digital venturing and large-scale restructuring.
Mohottala earned his MBA in Entrepreneurship and Strategy from the prestigious UCLA Anderson School of Management, a B.SC. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK.
Further, holds a Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management, UK.
Withana is a highly qualified and respected Management Consultant, who counts over 25 years of experience in organisation development, business transformation, finance, human resources, manufacturing, supply chain, market development, public sector and project management.
Withana has an extensive and proven track record of driving high performance at several multinational companies such as ABN – AMRO, IBM, Ernst & Young, Yamaha (USA), Carson Cumberbatch, Brandix, Ceylon Tea Services and Srilankan Airlines. He has also held directorships at Bank of Ceylon, Seylan Bank, Dankotuwa Porcelain Ltd and Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka.
Withana holds a PMP from the respected Project Management Institute, USA, a BA (Hons) from the Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, as well as an MBA from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is also a Fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK as well as a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
With these esteemed new additions, the Softlogic Life board of directors will now comprise Ashok Pathirage (Chairman), Iftikar Ahamed (Managing Director), Haresh Kaimal, Fernanda Lima, Raimund Snyders, Vish Govindasamy, Sanjaya W. Mohottala and Lalith Withana.
