Construction activities of the Marina Square development commenced on May 11th. General Manager, Buddhika Gunarathne said, “Construction activities will commence with a smaller workforce and will be gradually increased to the full capacity of operations based on the advice of the relevant authorities.”

He further stated that all construction activities will commence under strict adherence to all protocols and procedures prescribed by health and other authorities, and that all required approvals have been granted for construction work to begin on the Marina Square Development.

Representing the Main Contractor of the Marina Square project, Zhou Yong said, “China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) being a leading company in the world of construction, has the resources, knowledge, experience and the expertise to commence operations and progress towards full capacity as will be permitted by the authorities. The stabilization of the supply chain may take a little longer. However, we are working with our partners and suppliers around the world to make this happen as safely and efficiently as possible”.

MD of Access Engineering PLC, Christopher Joshua said, “Work on the Marina Square project did not come to a standstill during this period under curfew, we were all working from our homes through regular online meetings to discuss and progress with as much work as possible. Current and potential customers will be happy to note that we have taken this time to work on ways to enhance the common area facilities offered to you and to plan the commencement of construction activities. We are strategically evaluating the options available to us to complete the Marina Square project as planned or with the least of delays.

Director Marketing, Shivanka De Zoysa added, “The design and development team has been spending a lot of time reflecting over ways to improve and enhance the features and facilities offered to the condo-owners of Marina Square. As a result, we have introduced two Squash Courts, two additional Function Halls, a Table Tennis Lounge, Snooker Lounge, Indoor Children’s Play Area, a larger Club House and a Coffee Bar to the already extensive list of common element features that were included.” Shivanka De Zoysa, also said, “We are looking at using technology and new developments that will facilitate the Marina Square Condo-owners to safely access and enjoy the two acres of ‘open to sky’ gardens in this five acre development, during similar ‘Lock down’ type situations in the future.”

“We assure all our valued customers that your investment in the Marina Square project will continue to be a highly rewarding one. The Marina Square project is backed by three strong Multinational Corporate Developers such as Access Engineering PLC, China Harbour Engineering Company and Mustafa Singapore with the collective financial strength and resources to face and overcome challenging situations similar to what we are experiencing currently,” Joshua added.

Marina Square - Uptown Colombo is a fully integrated mixed development and Sri Lanka’s first and largest harbor front development project by three internationally reputed industry giants; Access Engineering PLC, China Harbour Engineering Company and Mustafa Singapore.
