SHEHANI KAHANDAWALA DREAM GIRL IN SIHINI

“I am so thankful to the whole Sihini team who work like a family. AD Kapila Kumara Samarakoon, make up artist Madusanka Dissanayake, Art Director Bandula Weerasekara, camera director Suneth Hettiarachchi and others give a big boost to the whole team”

Young generation actress Shehani Kahandawala who shot to fame with her title role in the ‘Sujatha’ tele drama, is now back in action with the newest tele drama ‘Sihini’ which is gaining popularity.

“The feedback I am getting for my new tele drama ‘Sihini’ on ITN is so encouraging. I play the lead role in this tele drama directed by veteran Shantha Soysa and telecast on ITN at 8 pm on weekdays. Working with director Shantha Soysa is a new experience for me. He knows how to extract the best talent from an artiste and he will not stop until he gets the best scene. The script written by Mahesh Rathsara Maddumaarachchi is also a complete guide for an artiste. I am delighted by the feedback.

“Generally, I don’t accept any other offer while working on a tele drama. My current focus is Sihini. I am so thankful to the whole Sihini team who work like a family. AD Kapila Kumara Samarakoon, make up artist Madusanka Dissanayake, Art Director Bandula Weerasekara, camera director Suneth Hettiarachchi and others give a big boost to the whole team. I take this opportunity to thank veteran musician Manoj Peiris for guiding me in my career and being such a wonderful human being,” she said. I missed a couple of film offers due to date issues, but I will commit myself if I get a good film offer, she said.

“Sujatha was the biggest turning point in my life. I became a household name with that tele drama. In fact I had to replace Nehara Peiris who did the main role. Nehara had to leave the country so the producers were looking for a new face when I was approached. That was in 2015 when I was also working as a freelance television presenter. I always believe in having free space in life to enjoy life. That helps us to de-stress and also help us do better in the upcoming projects,” said Shehani.
